At the 2016 Beijing Motor Show were revealed new Brabus versions of the Smart ForTwo. These Smart models pack only 107 horsepower and it would be hard to reach the highway speed in most cars, but considering its size that is already a performance. ForFour and ForTwo Cabrio got all tuned up. It has been retuned their 898-cc turbocharged three-cylinder engine and pulled in more air and fuel. The models will produce this time for 20 % more power and 25% more torque, the 107-hp figure represents an 18-horse increase over the 89 hp in the standard version, and the 125 pound-feet of torque a solid improvement over the standard 100. This time the cars are 17 lb-ft more potent than the previous Brabus Smart, they'll be able to reach 62 miles per hour in 9,5 seconds.The fuel pressure has been raised by 2 bar. The air supply to the engine has been optimised.The BRABUS sport exhaust system has been optimised in terms of back-pressure.
Changes do not end here, it has been increased the suspension's stiffness by 20%, the front anti-roll bar got fitted, the ESP and steering got retuned, new wheels were mounted, launch-control-like Race Start feature was added, and a new exhaust system was installed.
There are also many cosmetic upgrades like:
- Sport seats with upholstery in perforated nappa leather/black leather with specific grey topstitching
- Instrument panel with a material mix of man-made leather/fabric
- Dashboard instrument with cockpit clock and rev counter
- Floor mats
- Xclusive badges in mirror triangle and B-pillar
The Smart might lose a bit on extra power, but they are fun and interesting to drive.
